Recording Services
Live multi-track recording for the "Blue Room Sessions"Polar States during the past 12 months have seen success building; with one of their singles "Cover Me" reaching Radio One and racking up huge popularity online, the band decided to treat fans to a professionally recorded "Live Lounge" called "The Blue Room Sessions".
The BriefThe band wanted to record a series of professionally recorded and mixed live performances in a disused warehouse building in Liverpool's baltic area. With an intimate feel, but high production value. We were asked to provide both on location multi-track recording, and lighting equipment for the video shoot across two full days.
Pro Tools on the moveFor on location multitrack recording we have our Portable ProTools rig: With 32 simultaneous audio inputs from award winning Herritage 4000 preamps and 96Khz oversampled A/D conversion. This rig captures pristine multi-track audio that is studio quality, anywhere in the world.
Tracking LiveOver the two days on site the band tracked live versions of five songs from their upcoming E.P, including Drums, Two guitars, Piano, Vocals and Bass Guitar. We provided a high quality selection of studio microphones from AKG, SE Electronics and Sennheiser and mic'ed everything in the live space together along with four room microphones.
Sennheiser G4 in ear monitoring was the preferred choice of the artist as to keep the video set as clean as possible for visuals. The band performed each track three times and the best take was chosen, we mixed the audio live and fed this back to the band to perform to again this time just for the cameras to capture different angles. Delivering the audioPolar States work very closely with their producer Dan, who was asked to mix the tracks. We swiftly delivered the audio in the form of 32 bit .WAV files, labelled and organised for him to easily navigate through in a ProTools Session in the studio.
LightingAlongside recording services we also provided the shoot with three Robe PATT 2013 lights which were used to provide visual athletics and backlight to the bands performance.
